Goldeneye Star Alan Cumming Rejects MBE

The artist no longer wants to associate himself with the "toxic colonial history" of the empire.

The famous Scottish actor Alan Cumming refused to award him the title of officer of the Order of the British Empire, which he was awarded back in 2009 for services to cinema.

The artist explained his decision with political motives and "the shameful past of the empire, which profited from its colonies."

“I do not want to have anything to do with the past or the present of the United Kingdom, and I ask you to cross me off the list of awardees,” the actor wrote on his social networks.

Cumming is known to the general public for his participation in films such as Emma, Goldeneye, the Spy Kids trilogy and the TV series The Good Wife.

By the way, the artist is an active supporter of the social movement for Scotland to gain independence from London.
