Mercedes-Benz GLC 2023 crossover unveiled with new hybrid lineup

The newest generation of the parkett is unified with the related Mercedes C-class as much as possible.

The other day, Mercedes-Benz updated its best-selling GLC crossover. Up to the third generation, more than 2.6 million copies of the various generations have been sold. The German brand plans to further strengthen the success of the model on the market.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLC for the 2023 model year has changed slightly in appearance. This is noticeable in the architecture of the radiator grille and its filling in the form of a structure woven from small brand logos. The headlights with new graphics have changed its shape slightly, and in the upper part is now connected to the grill. The aft lights got a unique graphic in the form of "frozen drops of lava." All this is packaged in a new aerodynamic dodger and spiced up with a fresh pattern of alloy wheels.

The novelty, built on the MRA2 platform, has grown in length by 60 mm and became lower by 4 mm in comparison with the pre-reform model. A 4-link suspension on the front axle and a multilever design on the rear axle are provided. Pneumatic suspension and a four-wheel steering chassis with 4.5 degrees of rear wheel rotation are available for an extra charge. The more streamlined shape of the body has reduced the drag coefficient from 0.31 to 0.29.

The interior of the Mercedes GLC is unified as much as possible with the exterior of the related C-Class. Behind the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel is a hovering 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster. Under the central air deflectors there is a branded 11.9-inch multimedia display with the latest version of the MBUX interface.

The entire engine lineup gets a hybrid superstructure. Among the mild hybrids with a 48-volt starter generator are the all-wheel-drive variants of the GLC 200 with 204 hp and 320 Nm, the GLC 300 with 258 hp and 400 Nm, and the GLC 200 d with 197 hp and 440 Nm. There are four plug-in hybrids with boost options from 313 to 381 horsepower, which can overcome the distance within 100 km without the help of the engine, accelerating up to 140 km/h. All options are equipped with the optional 9-band automatic transmission.

Production lines are planned to run in Germany and the PRC. Prices and start date of taking orders has not been announced yet.
