Mercedes introduced the second generation eSprinter

A huge van can travel 400 km on a single charge

Today, the automotive industry is systematically transferring models to electric traction. The other day, the second generation Mercedes eSprinter was announced. The van received the latest technology. The automaker plans to produce only electric vans by 2025.

The modular eSprinter platform consists of three parts. The front module accommodates high voltage components and is compatible with all vehicle variants, regardless of wheelbase and capacity of the battery located under the vehicle. The rear module consists of a compact permanent magnet synchronous motor. With a power of 100 or 150 kW, it provides a torque of 400 Nm, which is transmitted to the rear wheels. The largest battery, with a capacity of 113 kWh, can provide 400 km on a WLTP cycle. By comparison, that's nearly 250km better than the first generation eSprinter and 100km better than the Ford e-Transit.

The new eSprinter will be available for purchase in North America. The longest range version of the car will be launched first in the US and Canada in the second half of 2023. At the end of the year, the model will also appear in Europe.
