New Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport review and all the details

The seven-seater Atlas crossover and the five-seater Atlas Cross Sport were updated.

The other day, Volkswagen announced the updated Atlas, as well as its sporty Atlas Cross Sport variant. The reforms affected the appearance, design and equipment of the cabin. In addition, the engine range has been replaced by a single powerful turbo engine. Volkswagen Atlas was originally created for the North American market. In the "Old World" the crossover is known under the name Teramont.

Restyling brought the seven-seat Volkswagen Atlas and the 5-seat Atlas Cross Sport a larger grille with honeycomb filling, and head optics of a different architecture. From now on, adaptive headlights are put on all modifications except stock. The front bumper has also changed a bit. The body profile, with angular wheel arches, remained the same. True alloy wheels, which, depending on the version, can be from 18 to 21 inches in diameter, have received a fresh pattern. The center of attention at the stern are the lanterns, united in a single block, and emphasized by a redesigned diffuser. Style complements the glossy body decor.

The inner world of the Volkswagen Atlas has undergone a number of reforms. The multifunctional steering wheel, with touch keys, hides the 10.25-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro virtual instruments. The center console is a 12-inch multimedia complex touchscreen and a block of air vents with several keys. On board there is wireless charging for smartphones, climate control, ventilated front seats, as well as an advanced set of driver assistants. For a fee, a head-up display and active cruise are offered.

Global optimization has taken place in the Volkswagen Atlas engine range. All previous "fours" and huge V6s were replaced by a single 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline turbo engine.

A return of 269 forces and 370 Nm can be transmitted through an uncontested 8-band "automatic" to the front axle, or to all wheels. The manufacturer claims that this unit is much more economical than all the others.

According to preliminary data, the start of sales will be announced by the third quarter of this year. Closer to this event, exact configurations and prices will become known.
