Haval Big Dog (2024) review of the updated crossover

The second generation SUV received a number of external changes and became more technologically advanced.

Most recently, the premiere of Haval Big Dog 2 generations took place. The novelty will hit the local market in six modifications. The range of engines includes classic petrol versions and a hybrid. The base variant is priced at 135,800 yuan, while the top variant costs 175,800 yuan. The second-generation Big Dog, like the first, occupies the position of a mid-size crossover.

The exterior of the new Haval Big Dog is significantly different from the first generation. The headlights are integrated into niches, which are located at the edges of the redesigned grille. All this is enclosed between a faceted hood and a massive bumper with LED fog lights. The swift silhouette is distinguished by a narrow line of glazing and a developed relief of the side surface of the body. At the stern, new separate lights appeared, placed at the edges of the Haval inscription. The off-road character is emphasized by the contour frame made of unpainted plastic. The novelty stretched in length by 4705mm, in width by 1908mm, height is 1780mm and the distance between the axles is 2810mm.

The interior of the new Haval Big Dog has changed significantly. Virtual instruments are now placed on a 12.3-inch display, and the screen of the multimedia complex has increased to 14.6 inches. It is worth noting that the physical switches and keys can be found not only on the steering wheel, but also on the air conditioner and next to the transmission selector.

The management of electronic systems is entrusted to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155. The arsenal of equipment includes a 9-inch head-up display, ventilated and heated seats, a panoramic sunroof, automatic valet parking and much more.

The hybrid Haval Big Dog is powered by a system based on a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, which is combined with a 2-speed DHT transmission. The total power is equal to 326 forces and 530 Nm. According to the manufacturer, the total fuel consumption in the WLTC cycle is 1.85 l / 100 km, and on a full tank you can drive more than 1000 kilometers. The fuel version is equipped with a 2.0-liter “turbo engine” with 237 forces and 385 Nm of torque. Paired with the unit is 9DCT.
