Impressive garage house that looks like a circus tent

A Japanese man in love with his cars dreamed of another home where he could share space with his cars

Japanese architectural studio Cube Design Architect, with Hitoshi Saruta as the lead architect, was commissioned to shape this project, which fulfills the owner's ultimate desire to "spend time with your cars".

Located in Chiba, Japan, The Circus is a venture that combines the concept of an avant-garde home, garage and play space. Conceived as a 24-sided circular circus tent, the space for people and cars is unlimited, at least on the ground floor.

The entire structure rests on a central axis and 24 sloped walls on the outside, leaving an open plan space.

Also indoors there is a circular terrace where there is a living area with a bathroom with a central jacuzzi, a bedroom and an office. The entire lower section is the kitchen and living room, a space that is shared with the owner's cars. A space without pillars or supports, completely open, in which people and machines can move freely and which can change and adapt to the situation.

From the inside, the structure looks like a large wooden umbrella. Lighting plays a key role in a cozy interior, despite being an open space with a cement floor. There are no walls or restricted areas to prevent residents or guests from moving between cars or furniture on the ground floor.

From the outside, The Circus impresses with its faceted round shape and graphite gray color, which is different from the traditional buildings of its surroundings, but seems to have been well received by others. Every weekend the house is filled with car-loving friends, which is exactly what the owner wanted, turning this country residence into a kind of haven for car lovers.
