Without any warning, Aston Martin sent the new Vantage GT3 into production before it was officially unveiled, without telling anyone.

Now this debut is official. The automaker not only spoke in detail about the new road version of the Vantage, but also shared information about the racing car.

In short, the Vantage GT3 is a regular Vantage that has been heavily modified for endurance racing. Its glue-laminated aluminum chassis features a roll cage, carbon fiber body panels and a host of other modifications to make it track-ready.

All GT3 cars start their lives as production cars, and the new Vantage is no exception. All cars in this class are unique, but despite their diversity, they have very similar characteristics. According to the rules, the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 has the same base engine as the production car, but its output is tuned to 500-600 horsepower. All GT3 cars must also weigh between 1,200 and 1,300 kg.

The old Vantage GT3 was a popular race car among buyers, and Aston believes the new one will be no exception. By the end of the 2024 season, the automaker expects to have 30 cars competing on tracks around the world. This is partly because Aston already uses so many customer commands, but also because it fits into so many different series.

Despite the formula's success, the company described the previous car as having some "challenging" handling characteristics, which it said have been corrected in the new model. Feedback from drivers following an extensive development program was positive, with the car described as "no blemishes" and very forgiving.

In addition to competing in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship in the US, it will also compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), European Le Mans Series (ELMS) and Nürburgring-Langstrecken Series (NLS).
