Toyota Land Cruiser 2024: starting price and new configurations

The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser hybrid SUV with a powerful 2.4-liter engine is entering the market. When the 2024 Land Cruiser debuted, Toyota told us it would start at $50,000. Now we know the exact figure.

So, the latest version of the venerable SUV starts at $57,445 after a $1,495 destination charge, with deliveries beginning in the spring.

The 2024 Land Cruiser comes in well under the 2021 model's $85,665 base price. However, these two SUVs are very different. The previous full-size Land Cruiser could seat up to eight passengers, compared to five passengers in the new version. The earlier Land Cruiser could also tow 8,200 pounds, which is slightly more than the 6,000 pounds for this latest SUV.

Below are the prices for all three 2024 Land Cruiser trim levels:

1. 1958 Land Cruiser - $57,445.
2. Land Cruiser - $63,445.
3. Land Cruiser First Edition - $76,445.

While prices were about what we'd expect for the 2024 Land Cruiser, Toyota's fuel economy forecast was less accurate. The Environmental Protection Agency gave the 2024 Land Cruiser a combined rating of 23 mpg—slightly less than Toyota's previous rating of 27 mpg combined, but still much higher than the 2021 model's 14 mpg rating.

Buyers can choose seven exterior colors for their new Land Cruiser. These are "Ice Cap", "Cold Wind Pearl", "Subway", "Black", "Meteor Shower", "Trail Dust" and "Blue Legacy". The last two shades match the Grayscape roof for a two-tone look.

The 2024 Land Cruiser is available exclusively with a hybrid 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. It's mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard locking center and rear differential.

The middle class equipment is equipped with a front stabilizer bar disconnect system, which increases wheel articulation when driving off-road and rough terrain. It also features Multi-Terrain Select with dirt, mud and sand settings for all-wheel drive.

The top-of-the-line First Edition will be limited to 5,000 units, which Toyota plans to release within the first two months of Land Cruiser production. Features include a front skid plate, roof rack, 18-inch wheels with all-season tires, mud flaps and heated and ventilated leather seats.
