Volkswagen Lavida: a new round in the history of the 5 millionth bestseller

China's popular Volkswagen Lavida returns with the familiar 1.4-liter turbo engine and modern upgrades.

Volkswagen has unveiled an update to its iconic Lavida sedan, which has achieved incredible popularity since its debut in the Chinese market in 2008, selling more than 5 million units. Created jointly with SAIC-Volkswagen, this car is a key player in the segment and is closely related to the Jetta in concept and technical characteristics. It is worth noting that this sedan has not been globally updated almost since it entered the market.

In its new guise, the Lavida features an extended grille, updated LED optics and a redesigned bumper with new air intakes, showcasing a fresh take on the classic design. The special “Star Edition” features a mesh grille, a sporty bumper inspired by the R-Line, and darkened optics, adding a special aggressiveness and style to the car.

The interior of the Lavida has also been redesigned, including a new instrument panel with digital display and separate touchscreen, as well as a modern multifunction steering wheel, increasing the driver's comfort and control over the car.

While details about the powertrain remain under wraps, there is speculation that the sedan will be powered by the familiar 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine producing 150 hp. and 250 Nm of torque, which will be paired with a seven-speed DSG gearbox.

The updated Volkswagen Lavida will certainly continue to strengthen its position as one of the German brand's most popular sedans in China, maintaining its importance in a market where vehicle demands are becoming ever higher.
