The progenitor of the Nissan GT-R is the stylish Nissan MID4 sports car.

The model, released in two versions, remained a prototype forever

In the last century, not only premium sedans, but also powerful compact sports cars were very popular. The Japanese began to fight in this segment back in 1984, when the first potential competitor to Porsche or Ferrari saw the light of day. The Nissan MID4 prototype is the original model for the legendary Prince and Skyline.

Already in 1985, the Nissan MID4 show car, with the original for those times, all-wheel drive. Behind the only row of seats was a huge 3.0-liter V-shaped six-cylinder atmospheric gasoline engine, producing 245 horsepower. Such equipment allowed the sports car to exchange the first "hundred", less than 7 seconds. The speed limit was set at 250 km/h.

As early as 1987, the model underwent serious changes, and returned to the showroom as the MID4-II. This generation had a more streamlined body shape, as well as more serious dynamic characteristics. Thanks to the installation of two turbines, the power increased to 330 horsepower. This, in turn, allowed the "two-door" to cope with the 0-100 discipline for 5 seconds, and accelerate to the limit of 290 km/h.

Despite the fact that the sports car never managed to reach the assembly line, many technologies and systems later appeared on many other models, and the engine itself, moved to the Nissan 300ZX.
