“From the time the nominations come out, we have about six weeks to really prep our skin properly,” says Joanna Czech, a Hollywood celebrity esthetician and founder of her eponymous skincare line. As part of the prep process, Czech shares the secrets to achieving red-carpet-perfect skin. Clients visit her weekly before a special event. They undergo skin analysis, peelings, masks, if necessary, acupuncture and microcurrents. “The last week or two we're really just shaping the face and hydrating the skin,” says Czech, referring to her signature facial massage. And adds for those who want to prepare for her program, are they ready to get their face beaten?
Czech does not recommend doing serious facial manipulation on the day of the Oscar ceremony or any other important event - a school prom, an interview or a wedding. “In this case, the skin burns, that is, it is well stimulated. Showing up red-faced on the red carpet is not a good idea,” says Joanna. According to her, if you need facial care on a special day, it is better to use a mask in the morning and eye patches in the afternoon to apply makeup in the evening. But if you are used to planning everything, then it is better to do your favorite and proven facial procedures in advance, which will give it radiance.
Standard preparation at the Los Angeles Czech salon before an important event looks like this. First, the face is cleansed and a special, her signature tonic is applied. Then, for 15 minutes, vigorous massage with hands in the form of patting the cheeks with upward movements. It can be uncomfortable, but in a good way. “Working the facial muscles brings all these nutrients into the skin (with serums). Blood flow increases, so the skin turns red,” says Joanna. She also uses lymphatic drainage techniques to give the face more defined contours. In addition to her own products, Czech uses products from the Chanel cosmetic line, assuring that over the past century the French fashion house has achieved incredible results in skin care.

In addition, diamond microdermabrasion is used to exfoliate dead skin cells. The expert has two Lyma lasers in his arsenal. If you work with one or the other before going to bed at night, the skin will rejuvenate: hyperpigmentation and fine wrinkles will go away. “Ten minutes on each side of the face, maybe another ten minutes on the neck—you can even use it on your hands. It's travel-friendly, so you have little excuse not to do it at home,” states Czech. After this, she puts on microcurrent gloves and stimulates the facial skin with Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) energy, as if consolidating the procedures. As a finishing touch, cryogenic treatment. “It's like cryotherapy. The temperature is below zero, it all depends on where you stop. And everything that we applied to the skin and injected into it will remain with you,” the expert added in conclusion.
