Megan Fox on raising sons: "Going to the bathroom and crying a lot"
The 35-year-old actress gave a great interview to Glamour magazine.
In a conversation with the magazine, Megan Fox spoke for the first time in ages about her sons: 9-year-old Noah, 8-year-old Bodhi, and 5-year-old Journey. Lately, she has been trying to limit her children from the influence of social media. The actress last posted a photo with the boys in Halloween costumes in 2018. "I'm very proud of the kids. Noah is an incredible pianist. He can learn a Mozart concerto in an hour and literally dissolves into playing the piano," she noted. "But I also don't want the world to have access to this gentle soul and say all those things that are known to be said," Megan acknowledged.
At this point, tears came to her eyes, and she explained that she sent her children to "a school where other parents hold the same values that I do" and shield their children from the Internet. "They (the kids) know their parents are famous, but that knowledge is limited," Fox noted. "I knew when they were very young that I wanted to protect them from anything and mostly from what's on the Internet."
The actress gave birth to her sons in her marriage to actor Brian Austin Green. Now they are officially divorced, but together they are engaged in parenting. According to the star of the movie "Jennifer's Body" (2009), she and Brian are doing a "really, really great job" of keeping their offspring safe from a hostile environment.
In addition to keeping her sons safe, Fox also touched on managing her life as a divorced mother and in-demand actress in the interview. She said she'd like to take her boys with her wherever she goes for work, but she can't do it often and has to endure being separated from them. "I cry a lot, usually every new moon. I go to the bathroom and cry a lot because it's hard. And not because anyone is pressuring you or society is pressuring you, but because it's just hard to be away from them in those circumstances. They're my DNA," Megan explained.
"It's hard not to feel obligated to be with them all the time or to think you're not doing a good job. But I'm divorced from their father, so I can only be with them half the time. That's the way things are. But on the other hand, it allows me to have personal time where I can live my life without being somebody's mother, and that's fine. But it always comes with guilt when you think, 'I didn't do enough,'" she added.
Fox and Green finalized their divorce earlier this year, after two years of living apart. The actress is now engaged to 32-year-old musician Machin Gun Kelly, whose real name is Colton Baker. The couple dated for a year and a half before getting engaged, and even though they call each other "soul mates" in numerous interviews, according to Meghan, their relationship is not perfect and "not without a pinch of salt."
