For every taste: 3 best glintvein recipes
New Year's Eve is not just about the tree, tangerines, and frosty freshness. The aroma of mulled wine can also make the holiday unforgettable.
The New Year's vacations are a great opportunity to relax and distract from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If you are tired of walking around the city and playing snowballs (it can happen too), you can make a fragrant warming drink and turn on your favorite movie.
One of the premier winter drinks is mulled wine. This drink based on red wine with the addition of spices were prepared back in Medieval Europe. Warm wine with spices was served at all celebrations during the cold season.
Today there are many recipes for mulled wine - lovers of this drink add new ingredients, improving the recipe. We offer several different recipes - such drinks will both warm you up and lift your spirits:
Classic
For this recipe you will need a liter of red dry wine, 1 tablespoon of honey, an orange, two cinnamon sticks, five clove buds, ginger root, nutmeg and pepper to taste.
Remove only the zest from a washed orange, then squeeze the juice into a saucepan, add the zest and spices. The whole thing cook on low heat for five minutes, then add the honey and wine, without allowing the latter to boil (otherwise the drink will be sour). Remove the pot from the heat, cover with a lid and let stand for half an hour or an hour. Then reheat it, and garnish with the cinnamon sticks and enjoy.
With rose wine and jam
Take dry rose wine (1 liter), strawberry or any other jam (2 tablespoons), a grapefruit, 2 grams of badjan, 1 star anise and a tablespoon of honey. With the grapefruit do the same as in the first recipe, in a pan with the zest add the jam and spices, cook for a couple of minutes over low heat. Add honey, dissolve it and pour the wine. Cook for another five minutes (don't make the drink more than 50 degrees - rosé wine doesn't like high temperatures!), stirring constantly and without allowing it to boil over. Then remove from the heat and pour into glasses.
With rum and candied fruit
To make this unusual mulled wine you will need a liter of red wine, 200 ml. rum, 2 cinnamon sticks, an orange, a tablespoon of honey, ginger, pepper and candied fruits to taste.
Wash the orange, cut off the zest, squeeze the juice into a saucepan, put the zest, spices and candied fruits in it. Warm it all up for a few minutes and add honey, then wine. Cook for another 5 minutes on low heat. At the end pour rum, stir, remove from the heat and let stand for 1 hour. Serve, garnished with cinnamon.
