Da Vinci's Mona Lisa was thrown a cake in the Louvre

It was not the first attempt to damage the portrait of the woman with the enigmatic smile.

In the main Parisian museum, an unknown person threw a cake at Leonardo da Vinci's painting "Gioconda". As G1 reports, the identity of the vandal has not yet been established. The Louvre security immediately kicked him out and the hall was thoroughly cleaned. The portrait of Mona Lisa is not damaged because it is covered with a protective plate of crystal.

In 2009, another attempt was made to damage the masterpiece by throwing a cup at the painting. As a result, the protective glass cracked.
