New Zealand authorities cancel Elton John concert due to flooding

The musician hoped to perform until the very end.

Large-scale flooding in New Zealand prevented the legendary British musician Elton John from performing in Auckland on January 27th.

Even the day before, local weather forecasters warned of a worsening situation, but no one could have guessed the scale of the disaster.

The next day, many settlements and highways were flooded, and even the performer himself managed to get into the very epicenter of the flood.

“Our bus hit the very wave of the flood, and we had to be rescued by rescuers,” John said.

According to the musician, he and his team arrived at the concert hall anyway and waited until the very end for some good news.

“But five hours before the start, the authorities still canceled my show, and I am very upset about this,” the performer admitted.
