Amanda Saifred couldn't make it in the movie musical "Wicked."

The 36-year-old actress said that she repetedly tried to get the role of Glinda in the film adaptation of the Broadway hit.

Amanda Syfred shared her disappointment at her failure in the casting of the movie musical "Wicked," which is currently in production at Universal Pictures. In a conversation with Backstage magazine, the actress said that last summer she auditioned on weekends for the role of Glinda the Good Witch in "Wicked" while she was still filming in the TV series "The Dropout".

In preparation, Amanda took singing lessons and made a recording of the song "Popular," which she sent to the director of the movie musical, John M. Chu. "I've cherished this project for five years. And I've never been so well prepared to hit those notes," Sifred explained.

Unfortunately, all that effort didn't yield the desired result. The role of Glinda ended up going to a popular singer with an arsenal of four octaves, Arianna Grande. Syfred, meanwhile, has no intention of stopping and is eyeing a new musical project. "It's opened up how far I can go as a singer. Because ever since 'Les Miserables' (2012), I realized that I need to work on my vocals. I need to be better. So whatever my next musical is, I'm fully prepared."
