Dolph Lundgren reassures Rocky fans: "Stallone and I stay in touch"

The 64-year-old actor commented on Twitter about Stallone's recent "cry from the heart" about his famous character being mercilessly exploited.

Dolph Lundgren took to social media to dot the i's on the development of the movie franchise about the fictional boxer Rocky Balboa. In late July, it was reported that MGM was working on a "Drago" spin-off with screenwriter Robert Lawton. This turn of events was later denounced by the franchise creator and Balboa performer Sylvester Stallone, speaking out against the "exploitation" of his character and his "universe." Let me remind you, the hero named Ivan Drago, a Soviet boxer, "shone" in the ring in the fourth part of "Rocky" (1985) was performed by Lundgren.

After Stallone's emotional posts, the Swedish native was quick to assure fans that there was no cause for concern. According to Dolph, he is now in touch with his longtime business partner and colleague and assured that he is automatically part of the new spin-off. "There's no approved script yet, no signed contracts, no director. And I was sure my friend Sly Stallone was involved in the project as a producer or as an actor," Lundgren wrote. "Last week's leak to the press had an unpleasant consequence. I'm in touch with Mr. Balboa. So everyone can relax."
