Ozzy Osbourne on moving to Britain: "I don't want to die in America"

The 73-year-old musician is fed up with life in Los Angeles and is preparing to return home.

The epidemic of mass shootings in the United States is the reason why the famous rock musician and Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne wants to move to Great Britain. In a conversation with Observer magazine, the Birmingham native, along with his wife and permanent manager Sharon, said that they could no longer tolerate the fact that some people shoot others on the streets of American cities, for no reason whatsoever.

"America has changed dramatically. In general, there is no United States of America. There's nothing unifying. It's a very strange place to live now," Sharon explained. Ozzy echoes her: "It's crazy. I'm fed up with killing people every day. God only knows how many kids have died in school shootings. And this mass shooting in Vegas at a concert... It's monstrous." The musician recalled the shooting at the 2017 Road 91 Country Music Festival, when 58 people died.

"I don't want to die in America. I don't want to be buried in freaking Forest Lawn (a Los Angeles cemetery where celebrities are buried)," Osborne said. "I'm an Englishman. I want to go back. But in saying that, I'm listening to my wife; if she says we should move and live in Tombouctou (a city in Mali), I'll go. But no, it's just time for me to come home."

The Observer reminded readers that Ozzy's move back home will bring him closer to his friend, Black Sabbath founding guitarist Tony Iommi. They recently performed on stage together for the first time in five years. In the interview, Osborne also shared plans to build a studio at his British estate to record a new album with Iommi. "You won't see the end of Ozzy Osbourne, I promise you," the musician joked. "If I have to go out and die on the first song, I'll still be back the next day."
