Doctors reminded about the dangers of eating late
The habit of eating late in the evening and at night causes heartburn, insomnia and other health problems.
After a busy day, you want to restore your strength and have a snack. As a meal to end the day, many people eat tasty but unhealthy food - fast food, sweets, and other high-calorie dishes. Nutrition expert Alice Callahan cites a study of eating habits in which 60% (of 34,000 US adults) said they were accustomed to having dinner after 9 pm.
And a nutrition and sleep specialist from Columbia University, Marie-Pierre Saint-Onge, recalls that eating three hours before bedtime aggravates the symptoms of heartburn. If you have dinner an hour before bedtime, a sleepless night is guaranteed, since the body does not rest, but spends energy on digestion food.
Neuroscientist Frank Shear notes that in a study he conducted, 80% of 900 American adults who eat late at night were overweight.
Research also indicates that carbohydrates consumed in the evening lead to greater spikes in blood sugar levels than those consumed.
That is, diabetes, obesity, gastrointestinal problems and insomnia are the main (but not the only) diseases faced by those who are accustomed to late meals.
