Battle of drinks: coffee or matcha - which is better?
Drinks have approximately the same properties, however, they manifest themselves in different ways.
The popularity of matcha has increased relatively recently, and coffee has always been and remains a popular drink. Fans of both often debate which drink is healthier. Let's look into this issue together.
A study published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition found that a caffeine dose of approximately 5 mg per kg of body weight resulted in significant increases in both physical and mental performance. Coffee also reduces the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. However, the caffeine in this drink is slowly eliminated from the body. So, drinking a cup of espresso in the afternoon can result in insomnia for you in the evening.
Matcha contains caffeine, but in several times less quantity than coffee (about 70 g in one cup of drink). But it contains a lot of catechin, a natural antioxidant. It can help detoxify the body and improve brain function, and also contains a compound called L-theanine, which modifies the effects of caffeine so you're less likely to feel anxious or have trouble falling asleep as you might after drinking coffee.
