WhatsApp will include transcription of voice notes in text messages

This feature would be very useful in situations where the user does not have time to listen to the voice memo.

WhatsApp developers are working on a feature that will allow iPhone and Android users to transcribe audio messages into text messages, according to WABetaInfo. This feature will allow you to “read the audio messages” of WhatsApp.

This feature would be very useful in situations where the user does not have time to listen to a voice memo or does not want to play the sound at a higher speed so as not to annoy others.

Whatsapp Messenger app will automatically detect the language of the voice memo and start transcription to convert audio to text/

According to information from the beta, transcripts will be processed on the device itself (iPhone and Android) and no data will be sent to Apple or any other manufacturer, which is good news from a privacy standpoint.

The new feature for converting voice notes into text messages belongs to version 2.23.3.73 of WhatsApp Messenger, which is currently available in beta testing. As such, it still has some limitations considering it's under development.
