Samsung will use only recycled plastic in the production of cell phones
The recently released Galaxy S23 series is the first to use recycled plastic parts.
Park Seong-woong, head of the module development group of Samsung Electronics' mobile business unit, said Samsung plans to use recycled materials in the production of its new Galaxy products by 2025. By 2050, the use of recycled plastic in its smartphones will be increased to 100%, Yonhap news agency reported.
According to him, Samsung aims to find durable and reliable high-quality materials and use them in the manufacture of products.
Song Sun added that Samsung's recently released Galaxy S23 series is the first flagship smartphone to use recycled plastic parts. Among them, the S23 Ultra uses a total of 12 recycled plastic parts, while the S23 and S23 Plus use 11 each.
However, the process of using recycled materials is complicated, and the question is whether it will increase the cost of the product. Park Sung Sung said the company will aim to minimize the pressure of rising costs and not pass the cost on to consumers.
