GPT-4: how to test the new AI in ChatGPT

Undoubtedly, one of the most important announcements of this March will be GPT-4. A new language model developed by OpenAI updates GPT-3 with much more capabilities, such as the ability to detect up to 25,000 words of text or image recognition, to offer information ranging from the name of a plant to crafts you can make from the materials featured on photos. AI, of course, goes far beyond these two features, and the best way to see this is to try it out for yourself.

At the moment, the only way to access GPT-4 is through ChatGPT Plus, the premium version of ChatGPT. This paid option came out a few months ago as part of OpenAI's strategy to generate revenue that will allow them to continue moving forward with AI product development. Among the advantages of ChatGPT Plus is the ability to have unlimited access to the chatbot even during peak hours, when the free version usually has a waiting list. Another benefit is early access to new products such as GPT-4.

OpenAI ensures that they will have priority access to new AI, but will only be able to use it on a limited basis. That is, it is likely that not all the features of GPT-4 will be available during the first few weeks, or that there will be a maximum of questions that can be asked of the above model.

“ChatGPT Plus subscribers will have access to GPT-4 at chat.openai.com with usage restrictions. We will adjust the exact usage limit based on demand and system performance in practice, but expect bandwidth to be severely limited (although we will be scaling and optimizing in the coming months),” states OpenAI.

How to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus to use GPT-4

Testing GPT-4 through ChatGPT Plus is really easy. In fact, you only need to subscribe to a data plan.

First of all, visit the ChatGPT website from your computer and sign in with your OpenAI account. If you don't have one, you can quickly create one. Then click on ‘Upgrade to Plus’ in the sidebar. A pop-up window will appear with both available ChatGPT plans.

If we want to test GPT-4, we must choose ChatGPT Plus at $20 per month. Now just click on ‘Switch to plan’, enter your payment method and click the button confirming your subscription.

When the payment is confirmed, OpenAI will send an email confirming that you are already subscribed to ChatGPT Plus. Finally, you need to access the chatbot from the web only (chat.openai.com/chat) and log in with the same account that you previously registered with.
