OpenAI announced support for plugins with ChatGPT
The popular chatbot combines the services of Expedia, OpenTable, Slack and others to provide services as part of the requests.
OpenAI has announced support for plugins in ChatGPT to extend the capabilities of its artificial intelligence. The plugins will allow the model to access recent or personal information that cannot be accounted for in training data. As part of its first phase, the chatbot will integrate services such as Expedia, OpenTable, Slack, Instacart and Shopify, to name a few.
Using plugins is important because they remove one of ChatGPT's main limitations: access to up-to-date data. Chatbot users will not only be able to get up-to-date information, but also connect their requests to popular services. OpenAI started releasing plugins from its first co-authors for ChatGPT Plus users.
The example shows how, when asked for a vegetarian meal recommendation, ChatGPT contacts OpenTable and reveals restaurants in the area. It then lists the ingredients for the recipe with detailed calorie information using WolframAlpha and offers to purchase them through Instacart.
OpenAI has created a plugin store where ChatGPT users can turn them on to take advantage of them. According to the company, plug-ins allow you to keep up to date, access your own sources of information, or troubleshoot problems with models. Similarly, developers will be able to develop their own plugins for integration in the future.
