Apple will let you customize the buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro

The new iPhone 15 Pro solid-state keypad will work seamlessly with cases or gloves by adjusting their sensitivity.

Thanks to the leak, a few days ago, information was leaked to the network regarding the new button that will appear on the iPhone 15 Pro. The host via Macrumors said that the novelty will have a dedicated processor, and the mute switch will be changed with an action key similar to the Apple Watch Ultra. He claims that the solid-state buttons, which have replaced the traditional ones we see on other models, will include a sensitivity adjustment feature; good news for those who use covers or gloves.

This feature, in particular, will allow the user to adjust the sensitivity when pressing the buttons, which will have a mechanism similar to that Apple includes in the Home button on the iPhone. This is a useful feature if your iPhone 15 Pro is wearing a case or if the person holding the phone is wearing gloves. Well, while the cases will adapt to the new keypad, the user will have to do another, shall we say, force press to be able to perform an action, such as turn on the phone or turn down the volume.

“These capacitive buttons will work very well with gloves and cases with the right design, as there is a sensitivity switch.”

It's unclear if this will allow Apple to fine-tune the sensitivity of the new button. Or if the company instead shows different activation options if, for example, the iPhone has a case or the user is wearing gloves. In any case, given the cost of the rest of the iPhone 15 Pro keypad options that Apple may include in the system, it is likely that in the device settings we will see a dedicated section for the aforementioned keys.

iPhone 15 Pro will say goodbye to the mute switch

Apple, according to previous information revealed by the aforementioned leak, will also replace the mute switch with an action key. That is, using a button similar to the one on the Apple Watch Ultra. With it, the user can select a specific action that will be triggered when performing one or more clicks. For example, one could press once to activate the flashlight, focus mode, or open an app, or twice to mute the iPhone 15 Pro, take a screenshot, and so on.

The iPhone 15 Pro will also come with a low power microprocessor. This will be used to keep the solid keys responsive even if the iPhone 15 Pro is turned off or the battery is low.
