Design and ports

The back panel of Honor Pad X8 is made of metal. It has a small brand logo and additional information engraved in small print.

The ends of the device are made of plastic. They have a USB-C charging port, a power button, a volume rocker, speakers, and a combined tray for a SIM card (optional) and a memory card that will allow you to expand the tablet's memory.

Tablet dimensions - 240 × 159 × 7.6 mm. It is very thin and moderately light, weighing 460 grams. Honor Pad X8 feels good in the hand and does not cause discomfort during prolonged use.

Screen

The tablet display is one of the key criteria that you need to pay attention to when buying. Honor Pad X8 is equipped with a high-quality display with a diagonal of 10.08 inches and a resolution of 1920 × 1200 with an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a dot density of 224 ppi. This screen ratio is the golden mean in terms of usability and functionality.

Performance

The MediaTek Helio G80 chipset is a fairly powerful processor, although it was manufactured in 2020 using an already outdated 12-nanometer process technology. Most of the MediaTek Helio G80 cores are energy efficient, and two of them are responsible for performance and provide power in gaming mode.

The comprehensive AnTuTu benchmark scores 185,234 points, the single-core Geekbench 5 scores 348, and the multi-core Geekbench 5 scores 1289. At the same time, the tablet demonstrates excellent graphics performance and even surpasses the Snapdragon 680 chipset, manufactured using a much more modern 6-nanometer process technology. Honor Pad X8 is suitable for many modern, but not demanding games.

Autonomy

Honor Pad X8 has a small capacity battery - 5100 mAh. Thanks to the efficient processor, the tablet shows good battery life. With a high load, such as games and demanding software, the battery of the tablet will last for 7-8 hours. In the mode of reading and watching video, the battery will provide up to 11 hours of operation. Activating the power-saving mode will add a few hours to your battery life.

Closest Competitor

The closest competitor for the Honor Pad X8 is the third generation Lenovo Tab M10 which was released in May 2020. Lenovo's tablet gets an older 2019 Unisoc Tiger T610 processor that also has eight cores (all 1.8GHz), 4GB of RAM, 64GB of main storage, and a battery of the same capacity. The only difference is the higher resolution cameras (8 MP main, 5 MP front). Despite the weaker processor, Lenovo's market value is an order of magnitude higher than Honor, which makes the Pad X8 model the best in its budget class.

Conclusions

Honor Pad X8 is a budget and multifunctional device that is suitable for various use cases. This tablet is equipped with a large and high-quality screen, loud speakers and productive components. The device is thin and pleasant to use, and its autonomy is enough for a whole working day.
