Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Redmi Note 13 series, its new series of mid-range mobile phones, which consists of five new models, including two variants with 4G connectivity, two with 5G support and a Pro+ model with Wi-Fi support and more powerful specifications. The two cheapest mobile phones in this range are the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 4G and Redmi Note 13 5G, which are actually quite similar to each other. However, they also have important differences.

As their names suggest, Redmi Note 13 4G and Note 13 5G differ in connectivity, which in turn depends on the processor model. The Redmi Note 13 4G, the cheapest model in the entire new series, comes with a Snapdragon 685 SoC—the same chip we saw in the Redmi Note 12—. The 5G model, on the other hand, includes the Dimensity 6080 from MediaTek. Both come with 6GB and 8GB RAM options and 128GB or 256GB storage options.

Additionally, the 4G and 5G models come with a 5,000mAh battery and 33W fast charging. Both variants also include NFC connectivity, albeit with different versions of Bluetooth; 5.1 for the 4G version and 5.3 for the 5G model. There's also a small, curious difference in sound: while both have a 3.5mm headphone jack as well as Dolby Atmos audio support, only the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G boasts stereo sound.

Same cameras and display with minor differences

The photographic section of both models is absolutely the same. Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 4G and 5G come with a 108-megapixel main sensor.

Both come with a second 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture. It is followed by a third 8-megapixel macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera, both in the 4G and 5G models, has a resolution of 16 megapixels.

Regarding the display, we can also say that the two options are the same, there are only two exceptions: brightness and panel resistance.

To begin with, both the Redmi Note 12 4G and the 5G model come with a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel. They also include Full HD+ resolution as well as a 120Hz refresh rate. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 5G boasts a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, while the Redmi Note 13 4G reaches a brightness of 1800 nits. The 4G version furthermore comes with Gorilla Glass 5, while the 4G variant comes with Gorilla Glass 3.

Lastly, the Redmi Note 13 4G display comes with an under-panel fingerprint scanner. The 5G model comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, even though both have the exact same design; with the exception of the bezels, which are also slightly narrower on the 5G model.
