Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ characteristics comparison
Both the new products from Samsung come with a host of AI-powered features.
After months of speculation and constant leaks, Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy S24. The new generation gadgets, which aim to gain a leading position, come with features based on artificial intelligence.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 family consists of three separate models. We talked about the flagship of the line, Galaxy S24 Ultra, separately, and now we will focus only on describing the functions of the Galaxy S24 and S24+, intended for people who are looking for a balance between good characteristics and an attractive price.
Before we dive into the AI features, let's take a look at what the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ offer us in the hardware department.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 comes with a 6.2-inch FHD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution, while the S24+ bumps up the panel size slightly to 6.7 inches and a QHD+ resolution (2778 x 1284 pixels). Note that for the first time, the Plus variant matches the resolution of its big brother, the Ultra model.
In both cases, the variable refresh rate is up to 120 Hz (this figure adapts depending on the activity we perform on the mobile phone). The maximum brightness of all Samsung Galaxy S24 is 2600 nits.
The manufacturer emphasized that the Galaxy S24 display has become more durable thanks to a number of improvements at the molecular level. They guarantee that durability has been improved by 50%, meaning four times more scratch resistance. Additionally, glare is reduced by 75%.
Of course, the Samsung Galaxy S24 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the latest high-end processor from Qualcomm. In terms of performance, in addition to supporting the daily activities we perform on a smartphone, this chip is also capable of handling all the artificial intelligence functions, of which there are many.
"As AI becomes more relevant in our daily lives, its performance must be flawless to meet all your needs: playing video games, recording and editing large videos, or switching between five apps while planning a trip. Whatever your purpose, the Galaxy series The S24 delivers incredible capabilities with chip advancements."
In terms of AI-powered features, firstly we have Live Translate, which allows you to translate text or speech in real time. The interesting thing is that it is also integrated into its own calling app. There's also an Interpreter that splits the screen in two to translate what the person on the other side is saying into another language. And most importantly, it does not require an Internet connection to work.
Do you need to send a message, but some action is stopping you? Don't worry, for this you have Chat Assist, which can suggest a suitable message depending on the recipient. Note Assist can create summaries of long notes, and Transcript Assist makes it easy to transcribe, summarize, and translate your voice recordings into text.
In the photographic section, the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ want to take on the leading manufacturers in this sector. Both boast a triple camera setup with 50 MP (main), 12 MP (ultra-wide), and 10 MP (telephoto) sensors. The 3x optical zoom also stands out. The front camera remains at a measly 12 megapixels.
Obviously, these technical data would be nothing without the support of AI. The Samsung Galaxy S24 supports Provisional Engine, a set of tools that enhance your photos using artificial intelligence. For example, with Nightography, the company promises better night photos and videos through the use of the Space Zoom feature.
Were you expecting some kind of generative artificial intelligence to appear in the Samsung Galaxy S24? Well, they won't disappoint you. Generative Edit can be used to fill part of the background of an image. For example, if a person or object is in the wrong position, you can move it to another location without destroying the background. In the video area, Instant Slow Mo creates additional frames based on detected motion.
Now we need to talk about the battery. The Samsung Galaxy S24 is equipped with a 4000 mAh battery, while the S24+ has a 4900 mAh battery. It is difficult to draw any conclusions regarding autonomy from these numbers. The best thing to do is test them to see how long they can last on a single charge. Both models support fast charging.
When it comes to software, there are no surprises here. These devices are equipped with Android 14, the latest version of Google's operating system. Of course, it comes bundled with Samsung's One UI 6.1 personalization layer.
The price of Samsung Galaxy S24 starts from 909 euros, S24+ - from 1159 euros.
