Channing Tatum opens up about split from Jenna Dewan
Almost four years after the breakup, the actor explained how this decision was made, despite the little daughter.
Channing Tatum met his future wife Jenna Dewan on the set of the hit dance film Step Up (2005), after which their relationship only developed towards rapprochement until they got married in 2011. In 2013, the couple had a daughter, Everly, and in 2019, they stunned those around them with a divorce. Until recently, the actor, known for his secrecy, preferred not to comment on what happened. But in a new interview, Vanity Fair decided to dot the i's and explain why his family life collapsed.
“We fought for her for a long time, even though we both knew to some extent that we had drifted apart,” Tatum explained. “I think when we were young, we told ourselves a story that we then used to repeat, no matter how harshly life sometimes pointed out our difference.” And the birth of a daughter, according to Channing, only increased this drift. “You really begin to understand this difference because you are yelling at each other all day - about raising a child, about how events are perceived, about how to live on.”
However, the decision to leave was a surprise for the actor, "frightening and terrifying." “Your life just turns on an axis. The whole plan that you had literally turns to sand and slips through your fingers, and you're like, “Oh shit! What to do?". But over time, according to the Lost City star, everything fell into place. He claims that he apparently needed a divorce in order to realize his true desires and become a better father for Everly. “We are friends with her!”, He said, while expressing uncertainty about a possible new marriage. "It's not easy for me to be in a relationship."
