Game without rules: stars with long hair over the age of 50
The unspoken norm that women over 50 should wear short haircuts is smashed to pieces by Hollywood stars - 77-year-old Helen Mirren and 60-year-old Demi Moore, appearing on the red carpet with long hair.
Until recently, long hair and mature women were something incompatible. Gray loose curls were associated with witches and old maids, and dyed ones gave people a reason to accuse their owner of wanting to look younger. But everything is changing, women began to listen to themselves more and skimp on public opinion. After all, my hair is my personal choice and you shouldn't care if I choose to wear it long or short. This is exactly what famous actresses of the older generation are doing now. Among them are Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep, Demi Moore, Diane Keaton and others. On the red carpet, they show long hair and radiate elegance and confidence, completely breaking the old stereotype that this type of hairstyle is the lot of young ladies.
Long hair in adulthood gives a woman the effect of presence, preventing the invisibility cloak from falling on her. It has been noted that over the years, following common misconceptions, a woman ceases to be outwardly interesting, and “disappearing” from sight, loses influence and significance in the spiritual sphere. And to prevent this from happening, you should listen to yourself, understand which of the advantages of an earlier age can be used in the current one. And it doesn't have to be long hair. But if they are, then there are several options for their submission. They can be longer or shorter, dyed or have a natural color. It all depends on inner comfort, a sense of beauty and, perhaps, practical advice from the outside.
If there is a rule, it applies to any age and any hairstyle - a haircut should never lose shape and at the same time seem too complete. Many hairdressers believe that our height is related to the length of our hair. The taller you are, the longer hair looks more organic. But this does not exclude the fact that even with a small growth, hair below the shoulder blades can look aesthetically pleasing and attractive. Much here depends on their shape, styling, color, etc. For example, with a round face shape, its owner will benefit if the hair, no matter how long, is cut with layers framing the head.
And of course, the condition of the hair is important, where there are definitely rules that are better to follow so as not to look like a shabby life. Long hair requires more care with age, like everything else in our health and appearance. If you want to dye your hair like Demi Moore, then experts recommend applying a color half a tone lighter than your natural shade and a centimeter moving away from the hairline. “That keeps them from looking too tight and flat,” explains Nicola Clarke, owner of her eponymous Los Angeles beauty salon. “I also recommend using smoothing and polishing products to give your hair a healthy glow. Dullness is synonymous with fading."
If you're aiming for long gray hair like Helen Mirren's, then follow the same rules as between hair coloring. “I recommend using tinted shampoos, but not with too much purple or blue pigment, because over time they just can make hair dull, that is, matte,” says Clarke.
And finally, an important rule is a regular haircut. The more often you cut the ends and refresh the shape, the better they grow, and this is not an old maid's tale. “A haircut every four to six weeks will keep the hair thick. This prevents them from breaking. If the ends do not split, then the hair will not break further along the shaft. If you let your hair grow further without trimming it regularly, it will never grow longer. But be patient, at least for a year, to grow them out, ”says Nicola Clarke lead hairdresser Joel Goncalves.
