“I have to pay bills”: Irina Shayk about working in the modeling business

Irina Shayk is one of the most sought-after models in the world today. In a conversation with Elle magazine for the November issue, she shared her thoughts on the profession. According to Irina, models are now perceived either as a component of commercial success or as an attribute of fashion. But this, in her opinion, carries limitations. She herself perceives work primarily as a source of income.

“It doesn't matter what I'm going to do now. I have bills to pay. I don't have a rich husband. I don’t have a sugar daddy (a man who usually supports a younger woman), so I have to pay.”

And Shayk was already self-sufficient at the dawn of her career when she arrived in Paris and faced an unexpected reaction to her appearance. “I had agents who said, ‘You should cut your hair, lose 20 pounds and go blonde. And I told them: “No way,” admitted Irina.
