Hair hygiene goes far beyond the classic shampoo and conditioner. In fact, it involves a careful ritual that you should pay more attention to.

Both for aesthetic reasons and to kill bacteria and viruses that accumulate throughout the day (yes, they can stick to hair, just like any part of our skin), special attention must be paid to thorough cleaning. We will tell you how to wash your hair properly.

Before you begin hair hygiene, it is advisable to comb it thoroughly. This is done to stimulate blood circulation and detangle each strand, so that the cleaning process will be easier later.

Perfect product and right quantity

A fundamental factor in knowing how to wash your hair properly is choosing the best products. The rule is to do it according to your hair type—whether it's curly or straight, dry or oily, healthy or damaged—you'll be able to find the right treatment line for any mane.

Experts suggest applying an amount equivalent to the size of a walnut. This dose is enough to achieve excellent results!

How to wash your hair correctly, step by step

Start by applying the shampoo to your palms and rub in before applying to your hair. This method has been proven to be much more effective than applying shampoo directly to the scalp. Then spread it onto the crown of your head and start massaging it to create a lather.

Use your fingertips to move over each area of your scalp while applying gentle pressure to activate circulation. Pay special attention to the area behind the ears and the back of the head, which are often forgotten when washing your hair, but they are the most susceptible to contamination.

Next, distribute the foam over the rest of your hair and rinse it under running warm or not very hot water - this temperature is most effective for deep cleaning. Do not overdo it so as not to dry out your hair.

When it comes to conditioner, it is recommended to apply it from the middle to the ends and leave it on for at least a minute to really benefit your hair. Rinse with plenty of cool water to close cuticles and enhance shine.

Washing frequency

Although it is generally recommended to wash your hair at intervals, this completely depends on your hair type. Curly, thick and voluminous manes can be brushed every two to three days, while thin, straight and oily hair should be washed daily to improve its appearance.

Finding the right rhythm will help you preserve the natural oils produced by your hair, promoting maximum hydration and shine.
