One of the hottest Hollywood gossips of recent weeks about the romance between Meryl Streep and Martin Short, who played in the TV series “Murders in the Same Building,” has not been confirmed. At least Short personally refuted the idea in an interview with the Club Random with Bill Maher podcast.

After the host called the actors a "power couple," Short retorted, "We're not a couple, we're just very close friends." Rumors about the off-screen relationship between 74-year-old Meryl and 73-year-old Martin intensified after their frivolous communication at the Golden Globe ceremony held on January 7th. The actor's representative said the next day that the actors were "just very good friends and nothing more."

However, even after this, talk about the stars’ romance continued, given the fact that Streep separated from her husband Don Gummer 6 years ago, which she spoke about at the end of last year, and Short’s wife Nancy Dolman died 13 years ago. Once in an interview, the actor admitted that his marriage was a “triumph.” "She died in 2010, but I still keep talking to her, like, 'Hey, Nan, you know?' How would she react to this decision or another, especially in relation to our three children,” he noted.
