Anya Taylor-Joy accused of promoting fasting
The reason was the actress’s unusual dress at the premiere of the film “Dune: Part Two” in New York.
Anya Taylor-Joy's outfit at the premiere of Dune: Part Two in New York caused a heated discussion on social networks. The 27-year-old actress appeared on the red carpet on February 25 in an original halter dress from Maison Margiela from the spring-summer 2024 couture collection. The floor-length number featured a metallic base draped in black tulle. The result was a graphic silhouette with a moderately voluminous top and a full skirt.
After the premiere, Taylor-Joy shared photos on social networks of how her unusual image was created. In particular, she published a black and white photo in which she poses topless with an extremely tight waist and hips. Fans immediately went on the offensive after this, attacking the comments section. “How about we stop promoting fasting?” one wrote, while another noted: “How rude. I expected more from you. Thinness is not chic.” A third went further and stated that the item of clothing on display should generally be banned: “Do you understand how a corset has a bad effect on women’s health and should not be the subject of advertising?”
However, some users came to Anya’s defense: “What’s the matter with you all here? Go about your business. Her body is perfect, she has always been thin and in the first picture she is shown in the corset she wore that evening,” one of the actress’s fans addressed the critics.
It should be noted that Taylor-Joy is not the only celebrity who has been condemned for wearing a corset. In 2019, Kim Kardashian became the subject of heated discussions on social networks for appearing at the Met Gala in a “wet” Mugler dress with a ridiculously cinched waist. The socialite herself admitted to users that she took breathing lessons in order to demonstrate to the audience the now famous outfit, and later showed the dents on her back and stomach left after it was removed. But according to Kim, the experience was “worth it.”
Fans accused Kardashian of showing unrealistic standards of appearance. And one of them wrote: “Stop! You are beautiful, stop killing your organs.”
