The secret behind Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively's 12-year marriage

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are one of the most popular Hollywood couples. From their red carpet appearances to sharing sweet pleasantries on social media, they never disappoint the public or the press.

The couple, who have four daughters, met in 2011 and married in 2012. Despite the busy work schedules of the leading actors, they have learned quite well how to interact and manage the life of a large family. According to Blake Lively, this is all because they follow the “golden” rule of relationships, which they agreed upon at the beginning of the novel.

“When Ryan and I met, we made it a point to never work at the same time so we could prioritize our personal lives,” the actress explained.

However, for a super-busy couple, following the “golden” rule is not as easy as it might seem at first glance, especially when they just started dating. “I was used to working hard and doing it, doing it, doing it, without stopping,” Lively recalled. “Especially during the six-year filming of Gossip Girl, when we sometimes filmed three episodes at a time. And we needed to work hard at it (creating balance), but we weren't ready for it. It’s like doing financial planning and something like that, it requires a certain, optimal approach.”

In 2020, in a conversation with Access Hollywood, Ryan Reynolds also spoke about the “rule” that he and his wife follow and which allows them to save their marriage.

“We are not breaking up,” he explained to the publication. - For example, I act in films, my wife acts in films, we travel. And we’re just always together. I think that's the best part of marriage is that we don't spend a lot of time apart. I’m almost always with my girls,” said the actor.
