Fashionable hair accessory: wide jersey headband
Popular in the movies of the 60s and 70s, it's back with comfort and a new "business" sense.
Headbands are associated with preppy style and fictional headwear aficionado Blair Waldorf from the TV series "Gossip Girl." But for decades, there has been a way to keep hair out of your face without the hint of a Catholic schoolgirl or royalty. It is a wide headband sewn from a thick jersey knit. Colors are chosen based on the circumstances. Black gives strictness and emphasizes the business style, white is suitable for summer images or informal outings, variants of other colors agree with the gamma of the whole image.
A favorite of stars like Barbra Streisand and Brigitte Bardot, the wide jersey headband is a comfortable accessory that is easy to style. These days, such an armband is a pragmatic accessory, but before that it became famous in the 60s and 70s cinema. Streisand wore a white version in "The Way We Were" (1973), Ursula Andress in "Fun in Acapulco" (1963), and Romy Schneider in "The Things of Life»" (1970).
In the 80s, wide headbands were mostly replaced by thin metal hoops in a zigzag pattern or lined with soft velvet. But later came an updated version of comfortable stretch. This is the kind of white headband Bella Hadid wore to make smoothies in the Erewhom ad, and Addison Rae was heading to a Pilates class in a sparkly version from Dior, judging by the published photos. So a headband is not only comfortable, but also gives you the opportunity to express your personal style. It doesn't only work for stars anymore.
At the Fashion Weeks held in Copenhagen, Paris, Milan with shows of fall collections 2024 were caught several looks with wide black headbands spotted on female visitors. Of course, everyone was busy waiting for clothing trends, but it seems that girls from different countries have already approved this practical and elegant accessory.
Whether you wear it to please trends or just to get your hair out of your face, a jersey headband is a great choice this year.
