The Green House in Parc Andre Citroën in the French capital provided a suitable stage for Stella McCartney's eco-friendly, green show. It took place the day before as part of the ongoing Paris Fashion Week. The British-American designer had an incredible support group - a front row with two living Beatles, Ringo Starr, and her own father, Paul McCartney, as well as a large army of the LVMH group, which includes her brand. Stella's main goal was to attract the fashion industry's attention to minimizing its impact on the environment. "We are one of the most environmentally impacting industries in the economy," McCartney said in the show's introduction. This review contains some highlights from the Stella MacCartny fashion show..

New technologies

The screening began with a short film narrated by Oscar-winning actresses Helen Mirren and Olivia Colman, inviting guests to stand up for Mother Nature. McCartney's message was clear: glamor should not harm the Earth. Sequins made from recycled aluminum, decor made from artificial diamonds and bags made from eco-leather, trench coats with imitation crocodile skin made from apple waste. The dramatic wool dresses (Kate Moss's daughter Lila showed one of them) had a cascading base and a full silhouette, prompting one expert to dub them "the new fur coats."

Aesthetically, stiff shoulder pads gave models a sweeping shoulder line reminiscent of the '80s, while an asymmetrical studded vegan leather dress provided a nice flare of punk. However, sometimes silhouettes lost volume, such as a black soft jumpsuit, but this was rather an exception from the general series.

Penetration from within

In general, the idea that sustainable fashion does not have to lead to a compromise on the quality of luxury clothing was aimed at one of the heads of the largest group of clothing brands, LVMH, Antoine Arnault. He also watched the show from the front row, and his wife Natalia Vodianova presented one of the looks, walking down the catwalk as a model.

In a conversation with the AP, McCartney said that she is trying to “shake up” the fashion industry from the inside with a focus on the “green” agenda. According to her, atmospheric emissions from clothing production are still huge and something needs to be done about it. “I am struggling, and I must say they are very open to discussion. That’s why I’m very inspired by this,” Stella said, referring to LVMH, which acquired a minority stake in 2019.

Devoted fan of Stella McCartney

Former Spice Girl Melanie C smiled and greeted McCartney after the show, showing "the power of women." According to the guest, she has been partial to Stella’s designs for a very long time. “Being into sports, I like a subtle nod to sports with a little exposure, like using denim and vegan leather,” the artist known as Sporty Spice told the AP.

She says the eco-conscious collection is “very inspiring and exciting.” But we need more designers like Stella to pay more attention to the environment, Melanie said.
