Anya Taylor-Joy: the stylistic evolution of a red carpet princess

The actress did not immediately turn into a heroine who amazes with her unusual outfits. At the beginning of her career, she often did without the help of professional stylists.

Anya Taylor-Joy is now one of the brightest stars not only of the wide screen, but also of the red carpet. In recent years, the actress has clearly improved her style, and her every public appearance is viewed by both fans and fashion experts almost under a microscope. But, of course, this was not always the case. As soon as Anya began her journey in the film industry, she often wore outfits to public events that were far from the art of high fashion, and sometimes far from good taste in general. In this review, we'll look at how Taylor-Joy came to her current phase as the main Amazon of the red carpet.

Anya, who played the leading role in Robert Eggers' thriller, arrived in snowy Utah dressed appropriately: thick tights, a dress in dark colors. Neither hair styling, nor luxurious jewelry - the actress could not afford any of this then. Moreover, the image of the extraterrestrial creature with platinum hair for which she is famous today had not yet been developed.

A typical suit model for the French brand with chest pockets made of white lace. The actress decided to “dilute” it with black – high-heeled shoes and a small cross-body handbag. A ponytail and slightly painted lips completed the modest and sweet look of the 19-year-old talent.

Here, Taylor-Joy poses with the man who made her famous: director Robert Eggers. Shortly before her trip to Canada, she dyed her hair dark, which entailed a change in the color scheme of her clothes - an evening dress made of burgundy chiffon with silver polka dots, complemented by orange trim, was not the “strongest” outfit in the actress’s career.

Another dress that emphasized Anya’s “ordinariness” rather than her uniqueness. Beige with a floral finish, reminiscent of a combination. A voluminous neckline and loose dark hair completed the boudoir look.

Two years have passed since her breakthrough role in The Witch, but Taylor-Joy is still a diamond in the rough stylistically. Youthful swelling, a long skirt with tiers beyond her years and a knitted top that visually expands the chest add an extra five years to the 20-year-old actress. However, Anya has already mastered her favorite pose - crossed legs, which will look very flattering later in short dresses and skirts.

A peasant young lady in a long tiered dress made of blue chiffon trimmed with pink ribbons and spectacular embroidery on the bodice. Here, the actress does not yet understand that until she gets rid of super-feminine images, she will continue to be offered to play victims, as was the case in “Split.” The transition to brave warriors has not yet occurred; here Anya is in the stage of “childish naivety.”

A similar look is a beige bustier dress with a fluffy tulle skirt. True, here the “marshmallow” image is to some extent diluted by the provocative corset, but the phase of gentle, ethereal images for Taylor-Joy is not yet over.

Anya continues to search for her own style, experiments with length, but still does not leave the image of a simpleton. Although this light dress in boho style fits perfectly into the image of her heroine Lily from this crime comedy.

Another style that Taylor-Joy tried on before the pandemic was babydoll. A super-short tweed dress, a crimson hairstyle and elegant sandals with thin heeled straps turned the actress into a “living doll.”

The images are becoming more and more provocative. The atmosphere of the action in San Diego, where fans of comic books and superhero sagas gather, probably played a role. Shorts, a top corset, the effect of wet hair - and we have the ideal candidate for the role of Black Widow or Sue Storm.

Taylor-Joy in an ivory empire-style evening dress, in the spirit of the Jane Austen novel and her heroine from the film of the same name. The actress increasingly corresponds to the status of a movie star, dressing for premieres in the style of the films she worked on.

She made her debut with platinum hair color, which by this day had already become her signature. The presented style of Barbie anticipated both the film of the same name, in which Telor-Joy auditioned, and the famous barbicore.

Anya's style has changed noticeably. It can be seen that professional stylists, as well as luxury clothing brands, work with her. Like, for example, Dior this time. The class of jewelry has also grown - the actress sparkled with diamonds and other precious stones.

A mini dress is now the main option in the actress’s formal weekend style. And I must admit, this model suits her very well. Well, the metal elements add audacity and belligerence to the images, in the spirit of her heroine from the new film “Furiosa: The Chronicles of Mad Max.” It's due out in theaters this week.
