Chanel and Gucci cruise collections: what to take note
Let's see what famous brands offer us to relax in next winter season, when it would be useful to travel to hot countries.
Famous world brands have begun to show cruise collections - models that can be received in your hands after payment only next fall. This is how the high fashion system works. And it all started from France, when the great Coco Chanel introduced clothes for wealthy gentlemen traveling south in the fall/winter to unwind and take a break from the northern cold.
Of those who have already made their mark this May with shows of cruise collections, these are Chanel and Gucci. The first held a show in Hong Kong, the second in London. In this review, we will identify the trends announced on the catwalks. We may not be able to purchase “original” items from famous fashion houses, but we will keep their ideas in mind when choosing clothes in stores or producing them on our own sewing machine.
Denim enters the arena
Both Gucci and Chanel presented several signature denim styles on the cruise. For example, the Italian brand insists that everyone wear wide blue jeans on vacation to protect them from the evening breeze. Moreover, to pair with denim trousers, the creative director of the House, Sabato de Sarno, suggests wearing loose denim shirts like shirts, with slits on the sides and a polo fastener. Meanwhile, Virginie Viard of Chanel believes that a dark denim jumpsuit with a matching short jacket will make you the most stylish on holiday and give you a feeling of pleasant relaxation.
Transparency and more transparency
Another trend that is not going to leave us even next fall/winter on vacation is transparent fabrics: lace, macramé, chiffon, silk, organza, etc. Gucci produced long lace skirts in pastel colors: pink, beige, light yellow/orange, etc. Large floral motifs and sequins were used as decoration. Best worn with oversized jackets or light cropped coats. Chanel is not inferior and suggests wearing this kind of skirts and trousers in a suit format, so that both the bottom and top are identical in texture and color.
Volume top
Sabato de Sarno believes that outerwear is necessary on vacation, and the looser it is, the better. His collection is literally replete with voluminous jackets made of faux leather and suede, coats and jackets made of nylon with fringe, reminiscent of the shiny glass of a children's kaleidoscope. Viard also has an uneven affinity for voluminous silhouettes, but does so with the help of techniques built into the DNA of her brand – fluffy, colorful tweed; thick knitted jersey, etc. In her reading, hooded jackets with raglan or bat sleeves, as well as short, spacious coats, will look relevant.
Monochrome
Chanel's love for black and white has long been known. It blossomed wildly in the cruise collection. Viard especially advises taking a closer look at white. Volumetric sets made of thick white fabric or lace/macrame will give you a feeling of relaxation in contrast with the azure sea, gray or yellow sand, palm trees and bungalows. This is an option. Her overalls and sets with tops/pants or capes/shorts are in black, which can be worn both at lunchtime to go to a restaurant and in the evening for a romantic dinner. At Gucci, monochrome looks are diluted only with shoes, which, in general, has almost no effect on perception.
Lightweight shoes
No one will argue with the rule that on vacation you need to wear everything light, including shoes. Gucci believes that these should be closed wedges like Mary Janes with a thin strap that supports the foot. And to avoid problems with selection, de Sarno released them in pastel colors. Chanel presented its version of closed shoes - narrow, second-skin, black or wedge shoes with only a black toe, without a hint of a strap and suitable for everything. In addition, Viard advises wearing “flip-flops” - flip-flops with a bridge at the big toe and a small platform. White.
