Bridgerton-Style Birthday: Lopez Celebrates Half-Birthday With Pomp
She turned 55 on July 24.
Jennifer Lopez shared a video on social media on her birthday, July 24. The clip was edited from several moments of a large-scale party thrown for the star's 55th birthday a little earlier than the significant date - not July 24, but July 20. The scene is the city of Hampton, not far from New York, where Lopez owns real estate.
Judging by the video, the entire party was styled after the now popular Netflix series Bridgerton - the hostess of the ball and her guests were dressed in period costumes. Women in lush ball gowns with high hairstyles, and men in tailcoats and wigs. Orchestral music was played as accompaniment at the party. The food and dancing corresponded to the English Regency, the era that reigned in Great Britain in the early 19th century.
At one point, Lopez was seen singing at the microphone. The video ended with her blowing out the candles on a birthday cake with fireworks flashing behind her. "Dear and gentle reader... A brilliant evening captivated everyone," Jennifer quoted the beloved series in the commentary under the video.
Among the guests at the Hamptons party was the singer/actress's mother, Guadalupe Rodriguez, who arrived at the ball with friends in matching suits. While the birthday girl's husband, Ben Affleck, was not seen at the celebration of life. The couple continues to live separately, having split, according to some reports, back in early April. Since then, they have appeared together in public several times, but looked tense and distant. They also missed their second wedding anniversary on July 16.
Jennifer is enjoying life in New York this summer, often riding her bike or driving around the Hamptons, visiting shopping malls and dining out. Including with Affleck's eldest daughter from his first marriage, 18-year-old Violet. "Her summer is certainly not what she planned. But she's trying to have fun," a source close to the star told the journalist. "She's always grateful for the time she spends with her family."
