Tom Felton told why he didn't like playing Draco Malfoy

According to the 34-year-old actor, the role of blond Muggle opponent was turning the girls at school against him.

Tom Felton admitted that his "devilish" character in the Harry Potter franchise had a bad effect on his time at school. The Slytherin student "did not evoke good feelings" from his classmates toward Felton. "Some people actually carry around the idea that I wasn't this special, popular kid," the actor told the Guardian. "But I was walking around with white hair and playing the evil wizard. It wasn't fun. Girls didn't like me because of that."

Felton has played in all eight films based on the Harry Potter novels by J.K. Rowling. His colleagues on the set were Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. Despite her classmates' dislike of Felton, Watson confessed her long-standing affection for him in the special episode "Return to Hogwarts," dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the franchise. In the documentary, she detailed how she fell in love with Tom on set, and he later noted in an interview that he had always known about Emma's fond feelings. "(While working) I tried to protect her. Yes, I always had a soft spot in my heart for her, and that's true to this day."
