James Marsden criticizes HBO's decision to end 'Westworld'

According to the 49-year-old actor, not all TV projects can be measured in money.

James Marsden is one of many who are upset about the end of Westworld. In November, HBO discontinued the dystopian project after four seasons amid falling ratings. "I'm not going to lie, the way Westworld ended was disappointing," Marsden explained in an interview with THR. He played the character Teddy in the first two seasons, and then returned to the screen in the same role in the fourth.

“I never speak without gratitude about any of my experiences, but it would be wonderful to end the story the way we wanted to end it. I love the Westworld family. It was one of the unique opportunities to be part of a project whose next episode I was looking forward to at home as a fan."

But according to statistics, the rating of the series fell from 12 million viewers in the first season to four million in the fourth. And the cost of filming a story about android robots in the first season alone reached $100 million. According to executive producer J. J. Abrams, in general, the price of the project "reached the point of absurdity", despite the fact that it did not justify itself financially.
