Sony Pictures will make a sequel to "Uncharted"
The film took fourth place at the box office this year. This gave the producers a reason to go ahead with the sequel.
In the three and a half months since its premiere, Uncharted: Off the Map has earned $400 million. And despite mixed reviews from fans of the video game series of the same name and film critics, Sony Pictures decided to make a sequel.
There's plenty of plot basis to go around. The games give plenty of hints about possible directions for the narrative. These include the possible reunion of Nathan Drake with his brother Sam, the appearance of Nathan's main romantic interest in the video games, TV host Elena Fisher, etc.
Judging by the events of the first film, the creators of the franchise are not going to clearly adhere to the narrative line of the individual series of video games. They plan to freely interpret the content and improve it from a cinematic point of view.
