Audience needed medical attention after watching a horror film
Nearly two dozen people got sick.
Another American independent film festival, Sundance in Park City, Utah, ended in a major scandal.
It began when the emergency services received a call about a suspected gas leak in the cinema, causing several dozen spectators to feel ill. They were nauseated, vomiting and some couldn't even move around on their own.
Many medical, police and rescue vehicles arrived at the building. It quickly became clear, though, that it wasn't the gas at all.
The audience got sick en masse while watching the horror film Birth/Rebirth about a dead girl, whose grief-stricken mother tries, with the help of a morgue worker, to revive her in, shall we say, unconventional ways. Apparently, not everyone was ready for such a revelation on screen...
