Laurence Fishburne and Emma Roberts to Star in 'The Astronaut'

Emma Roberts has signed on to star alongside Laurence Fishburne in a new sci-fi film. The Astronaut will be filmed in Ireland under the direction of producer Brad Fuller, best known for his work on the thrillers The Purge (2013) and A Quiet Place (2018).

The plot will be built around the heroine Emma, astronaut Sam Walker, who miraculously returns alive after a difficult space mission. Her capsule is found drifting in the Atlantic Ocean. After being rescued, Sam's adoptive father, played by Fishburne, places her for rehabilitation and testing in a facility hidden in the woods under close surveillance by NASA. And such a decision, indeed, justifies itself. Despite returning to Earth, Walker alternately begins to hear and see things that cannot be explained by the habitat of our planet.

The Astronaut will be written and directed by Jessica Varley. “I can't be more excited for the audience to fasten their seat belts and join us on an exciting ride!” Varley commented on the project in a special press statement.
