“This is the perfect game!”: Tetris trailer released
The actors played programmers who tried to bring the cult game to the international market in the 80s.
Apple has released the trailer for its new movie Tetris. Its plot is built around a story based on real events that happened to the Soviet programmer Alexei Pajitnov, the inventor of the cult game Tetris. His role in the film was played by Russian actor Nikita Efremov.
However, the main character of Tetris was still not Pajitnov, but the Dutch designer Henk Rogers, played by Taron Egerton. He set himself the goal of trying to legally acquire the rights to the game from the USSR in the 80s of the last century. Relations then between Western countries and Moscow were not the best. In addition to Rogers, representatives of the American Microsoft and Japanese Nintendo participated in the race for Tetris.
The film was directed by John S. Baird, who took a rather loose approach to the interpretation of the game "deal". It's filled with car chases, pixelated retro designs, Rogers' claims of a "perfect game" and Sweden's Europe's "The Final Countdown" soundtrack. Tetris will hit theaters on March 15th and on Apple TV+ on March 31st.
