Steven Spielberg receives Berlin Film Festival award
The 76-year-old filmmaker was presented with the Golden Bear by U2 bandleader Bono.
At the 73rd Berlin Film Festival, Steven Spielberg received an honorary Golden Bear for his career achievements. "I'm a little anxious when they say I've lived a lifetime, because I'm not done yet, I want to keep working. I want to keep learning and discovering and scaring myself and sometimes you" he said with a smile in his acceptance speech. "I have to go back to the early scary movies, but there is a later story. As long as there is joy for me, and as long as my audience can find joy and other human values in my films, I don't want to say it's over."
According to Spielberg, even though "Duel" (1972) and "Jaws" (1975) were released almost half a century ago, he feels as if he made them last year.
"At 76, I know more about the filmmaking process than I did at 25 when I made my first movie. But the anxiety, uncertainty and fear that came over me while working on "The Duel" has stayed with me for 50 years and continues, no matter how much time has passed." In 2022, Spielberg released the family drama The Fabelmans.
