Hilary Duff did not want to return to the role of Lizzie Maguire
The 35-year-old actress admitted that she has definitely “grown up” from the image of a brave girl facing teenage problems.
Hilary Duff would like to get rid of the image of a girl actress. She admitted that "I really wouldn't want to be Lizzie Maguire again, as cool as that sounds." Let me remind you that the television series of the same name, which became a breakthrough for the young actress on the screen, ended in 2004.
"For a long time, people were like, 'Lizzy, Lizzy, Lizzy,'" Hilary explained in an interview with the Good Guys podcast. “And now it doesn’t bother me anymore, as before, I just really need to be myself. I thought music was a good way to introduce myself, then again, and so it was,” added Duff.
She played savvy teen Lisey Maguire on Disney Channel for two seasons, from 2001 to 2004, and also in Lizzie Maguire (2003). Disney+ later wanted to "reboot" the TV show, but canceled it after filming began.
