Eddie Redmayne will play in the Peacock series "The day of the Jackal"

Eddie Redmayne, released after filming the drama thriller The Good Nurse (2022), will play another killer. This time in the Peacock streaming service's television project, The Day of the Jackal. The actor will appear as a professional assassin hired by a French military dissident to eliminate President Charles de Gaulle in 1962.

The plot is based on the novel by Frederick Forsyth and the 1973 Universal Pictures film adaptation. However, it will be revised and developed in the form of a modern story. Events will unfold in the turbulent geo-landscape of the present, and the focus will be on a chameleon character turned "anti-hero."

"Headman" series creator and screenwriter Ronan Bennett will write the script and serve as showrunner. "The Day of the Jackal" will be directed by Brian Kirk, known for his work on "Game of Thrones" and "Luther"
