Adam Sandler and Idina Menzel will star in a Netflix comedy
In 2019, the actors collaborated on the filming of the crime drama "Uncut Diamonds."
Adam Sandler will reunite with Idina Menzel in a new Netflix comedy from Happy Madison. This Sandler-owned production company entered into a partnership with the streaming giant in 2014 and renewed it in 2020, promising to release four films. Two of them, the basketball drama "Hustle" and the sci-fi drama "Spaceman" are currently filming with the actor and producer.
Sandler and Menzel will meet on the set of a comedy called "You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah". It will be based on a novel by Fiona Rosenblum with the action set in the early 2000s. The plot will follow Stacy Friedman, whose bat mitzvah (a celebration held to celebrate a Jewish girl reaching her 12th birthday) gets comically confused when she sees her best friend making out with Andy Goldfarb, a boy the heroine really likes.
Sammy Cohen will direct the film from a script by Alison Peck. Both of them already have experience working on stories about teenagers.
